CPL 2023: Trinbago Knight Riders beat Barbados Royals
Trinbago Knight Riders pick up their first win in CPL 2023 with a 15-run win over Barbados Royals.

Trinbago Knight Riders clinched their first victory of the 2023 Caribbean Premier League season. They defeated the Barbados Royals by 15 runs at the Brian Lara Cricket Stadium in Tarouba on Wednesday (August 30).
The Knight Riders posted a modest total of 139 for 8 in their allotted 20 overs. Openers Leonardo Julien and Tion Webster put on 35 runs for the first wicket, but no batter could convert their start into a big score.
Jemimah Rodrigues showed her class with a fluent 33 off 26 balls in the middle order. She struck three boundaries and a six during her stay.
Veteran spinner Ravi Rampaul was the pick of the Royals' bowlers. He claimed figures of 3 for 22 in his four overs.
In reply, the Royals got off to a poor start. They lost their top three batters inside the powerplay with just 32 runs on the board.
Najibullah Zadran (31) and Kyle Mayers (22) tried to repair the innings with a 46-run stand for the fourth wicket. However, the Royals kept losing wickets at regular intervals and were eventually bowled out for 124 in 19.1 overs.
Ali Khan was the most successful bowler for the Knight Riders. He claimed three wickets for 16 runs in 3.1 overs.
With this win, the Knight Riders improve their record to 1-1 in the tournament. They will face the Guyana Amazon Warriors in their next match on Friday (September 1).
Meanwhile, the Royals remain winless after two matches. They will take on the St Lucia Kings in their next match on Thursday (August 31).
