2024 Presidential Election: Debate Dates Announced
Primary Debates
The Republican National Committee (RNC) has scheduled three primary debates for the 2024 presidential election. The first debate will be held on August 6, 2023, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. The second debate will take place on September 21, 2023, in Tampa, Florida. The third and final primary debate will be held on October 25, 2023, in Las Vegas, Nevada.
The Democratic National Committee (DNC) has not yet announced the dates for its primary debates. However, it is expected that the DNC will schedule three or four debates, with the first debate taking place in late 2023.
General Election Debates
The Commission on Presidential Debates (CPD) has announced that there will be three general election debates in 2024. The first debate will be held on September 29, 2024, at the University of Notre Dame in South Bend, Indiana. The second debate will take place on October 15, 2024, at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, Michigan. The third and final debate will be held on October 22, 2024, at Belmont University in Nashville, Tennessee.
The CPD is a nonpartisan organization that has been responsible for organizing the general election debates since 1988. The CPD is composed of eight members, four of whom are appointed by the Republican National Committee and four of whom are appointed by the Democratic National Committee.
